FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Rocco for State Senate Launches Billboard Campaign Calling for Federal Pardon and State Retrial of Derek Chauvin
Saint Paul, MN – Today, State Senate candidate Rocco announced a bold billboard campaign beginning August 24th, demanding a federal pardon and a state retrial, or even better a dismissal of all charges, for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. The billboards carry a clear message: “The moment you are silent on injustice is the moment you are complicit in injustice.”
“I believe Derek Chauvin did not receive a fair trial,” Rocco said,” “and neither did officers J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane, and Tou Thao. The proceedings took place under intense public pressure, with national Democratic leaders and activists openly warning of violence if the verdict did not match their demands. That atmosphere tainted the neutrality and fairness essential to any legitimate judicial process.”
Rocco noted that George Floyd’s extensive criminal history was a relevant factor, while Chauvin was acting in accordance with his training as a law enforcement officer. “These fundamental facts were overshadowed by the socio-political climate. A fair trial requires an impartial jury free from external threats and political intimidation. That did not happen.”
Rocco agrees with Chauvin’s attorney Gregory Joseph that the case should be dismissed on technical grounds. Barring that, he calls for a federal pardon and a state retrial in a neutral venue — proposing Warroad in Roseau County, Minnesota. “If Tim Walz can pardon a pedophile, he can push for a dismissal, fair retrial, or even just pardon Chauvin. You can’t judge someone on just one bad day, right Tim?”
The campaign ties directly to Rocco’s broader message: You want change? Stop voting blue no matter who.
“Your problems in Minnesota were not created by Republicans or President Trump,” Rocco said. “For over 50 years, one-party Democratic rule has delivered unprecedented fraud, rising crime, weak prosecutors, the 7th highest tax burden in America, and constant tax hikes for pet projects. Question the party line and you are gaslit into feeling ashamed.”
“Never forget 2020 — the ‘mostly peaceful’ riots, the destruction of small businesses, the calls to defund the police, and unchecked emergency powers. If you want real change, stop electing the same people who have controlled this state for decades.”
Rocco is running for State Senate in District 65 on affordability, ending fraud, restoring Minnesota’s historic flag, fixing the Lafayette Bridge bottleneck, the One More Day Bill to protect viable children, protecting women’s sports, and restoring common sense. “I’ve had enough of crime, fraud, empty promises, and injustice,” he said. “If you’ve had enough too, stop voting blue no matter who. Vote Red instead.”
Meet Rocco at the State Fair Rocco will be at the MN GOP booth each day, 1702 Carnes Ave., between WCCO and Ye Ol Mill.
